NJGPA Parent ALERT Reminders

ATTENTION all Parents/Guardians and Students of the Graduating Class of 2026 (JUNIORS):

The New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) will be given to students in Grade 11 on  March 11-14, with make ups on March 17-21. This is a state graduation requirement for the classes of 2026. Students who do not pass this exam may be required to take a remedial math and/or english course.

NJGPA will assess students in English and a combination of Algebra I and Geometry.  There are 4 sections   (2 ELA and 2 Math) for a total of 4 days of testing. Each section is 90 minutes.  Therefore, including instructions, each day of testing should take a total of about 2 hours.

Please adhere to the following important reminders:

  • Arrive ON TIME (no later than 7:40am). Late students will not be allowed to enter the classroom and will be tested the following week on make-up days;

  • Students must bring their Chromebook to school fully charged Tuesday through Friday;

  • Any student who did not take a school issued chrome book will be given one to use each testing day;

  • Bring a set of wired headphone, no earbuds (or one will be provided for you);

  • Bring a magazine or recreational reading book (no other materials will be allowed in testing rooms). Students who complete their work must remain silent until all testing is complete;

  • No electronics (other than a school issued Chromebook) will be allowed in the testing rooms. Students must leave cell phones, smart watches, etc, at home or in their locker;

  • It is important to get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast on the morning of testing;

  • All IEP and 504 students will be given individual testing accommodations as per their IEP or 504. Any questions, please contact Guidance or the Child Study Team.

Our English & Math teachers have been preparing students for state assessments by infusing test-taking skills and practice into class instruction. Parents and students may also view practice tests at NJGPA Parent Information.  Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions regarding the upcoming assessments ([email protected]).

Sincerely,
